I stopped treating the Yellow Light Stick as filler after losing time in a dark interior with a full pack and no clear exit route. Keeping a few beside my usual supplies changed those runs more than expected, especially once I had access to ARC Raiders BluePrints for replacing basic utility gear between missions.

Why a small light source earns a slot

The Yellow Light Stick is a Common Quick Use item that creates a yellow pool of light after it lands. Its listed duration is about 40 seconds, with coverage around a 7 meter radius. That is not enough to light an entire building, but it is enough to read a room before stepping into it.

Players often ignore it because it offers no direct damage, armor, or healing. The value is information. A lit corridor makes containers, drops, hazards, and movement easier to spot, which means fewer rushed decisions while carrying materials that actually matter.

Where it pays off during raids

Use one before entering enclosed rooms with poor natural light.
Throw one toward a stairwell or corridor before committing your squad.
Save several for collection objectives that require careful searching.
Skip them in bright open zones where the light gives little return.

Yellow Light Stick versus combat utility

I would not replace emergency tools with light sticks on a difficult run. Their role is different. Damage tools help when a fight has already started, while a light stick helps you avoid walking into the wrong position in the first place. Solo players get more personal value from the visibility, while coordinated squads can let one Raider handle illumination and keep the others ready for pressure.

The tradeoff is obvious: light can reveal your position as well as the room. Do not toss one into every doorway out of habit. Place it where you need to inspect loot, confirm a route, or give teammates a visual reference. In tense indoor areas, throwing it ahead instead of at your feet also keeps your immediate position less exposed.

Crafting value and common mistakes

The blueprint comes from the Last Entry quest, and crafting calls for 3 Chemicals at Utility Station Level 2. That low material cost is why the item stays useful beyond early progression. It is also recyclable, so extra sticks do not feel like dead inventory when your planned route changes.

The mistake I see most is carrying none, then treating every dark room like a sprint. A modest stack is better than gambling on random finds, particularly during longer extraction attempts. For players building a practical loadout, cheap ARC Items can help fill routine supply gaps, while the Yellow Light Stick remains a simple choice for safer, calmer searches.
